Based on an early 1950s vintage version of Levi's 507XX Type 2 denim jacket, FOB Factory has created a near-perfect reproduction of this iconic piece. In fact, some may argue that this version is even better than the original introduced by Levi's in 1953. Crafted from a 14oz original denim woven on the iconic Toyoda G3 shuttle loom using Supima cotton, this jacket is both durable and comfortable. Supima cotton is known for its exceptional softness, durability, and lustrous sheen, making this masterpiece a must-have for any denim aficionado.
The Toyoda G3 loom, introduced over 50 years ago, is a rare machine that produces unique, rough-textured denim with even yarn and ruggedness. It is difficult to maintain as replacement parts are no longer available, and it has low productivity, weaving only 5 meters of fabric per hour. However, some Japanese brands continue the legacy of the G3 loom by using it to produce original denim with unparalleled quality and texture.
The jacket is adorned with premium details such as custom engraved iron buttons, which enhance the overall vintage aesthetic of the piece. The custom patch, cut from premium heavyweight cowhide leather, has been specially stitched onto the jacket after the one-wash process at the request of Redcast Heritage, ensuring the best possible look.
The cut maintains the style of the original Type II fit with room for layering, but it has slightly longer length in the vertical and slimmer sleeves. Additionally, it features an adjustable waist adjustable waist cinches with button tab.
