We firmly believe that the shawl collar cardigan is the reigning champ of knitwear. This beautiful piece is designed to flatter all body types while keeping you cosy.
The cardigan was crafted using a lightweight original herringbone pile fabric woven in Wakayama. The outer surface boasts a unique three-dimensional herringbone pattern that can only be woven with a special vintage knitting machine, and the backing thread uses "zero twist yarn" (untwisted yarn), which creates a lightweight, soft texture that feels great against the skin. As the cardigan is worn, it will only increase in appearance and atmosphere, thanks to its high-quality textured feel.
The design is inspired by vintage 1960s cardigans and features a sporty, labour-intensive sleeve shape that combines an S-shaped classical raglan sleeve, a back yoke, and a shawl collar, which gives a sleek impression by suppressing volume. The front placket uses pile fabric detail.
By using a lightweight and skin-friendly pile material, this cardigan is tailored for long-term wear. The sewing is done using a time-consuming sewing specification with two and three needles.
The silhouette is a basic regular fit that allows for moderate ease in the body and armholes, ensuring comfort.
For the absolute best of the best, look no further than Japan's Loop & Weft, who have been crafting top-tier tees and knitwear with an artisan's eye for more than a decade. Using rare vintage machines, their pieces undergo a tediously slow knitting process that results in incredibly dense and suspiciously soft fabrics with unique uneven textures derived from the combination of natural and recycled fibres. In their efforts towards eco-conscious production, they use natural dyes with low environmental impact, resulting in coveted, one–of–a–kind pieces with a trademark organic unevenness in colour.
