This piece is one of the best flannels that 3sixteen has produced, particularly notable for the flannel fabric that has been custom-woven exclusively for the brand. The fabric was designed from scratch and utilises heavy slub yarns, resulting in remarkable texture while still maintaining a lighter, breathable feel for the warmer months. The check pattern draws inspiration from an oil canvas abstract painting by Arshile Gorky from 1947. Gorky's contributions to the development of abstract expressionism in America remain highly significant.
The Crosscut is a fundamental piece in the brand's history. With recent improvements in production capabilities, they are excited to keep expanding the Crosscut range with incredible new fabrics like this Mauve Slub Check, which is exclusively woven for 3sixteen and exceeds anything we've seen before. This chunky weave is brushed by hand on both sides, resulting in a uniquely textured fabric.
This beauty features a crossed-back yoke and enamel-coated metal buttons that will patina and chip over time.
Founded in LA by Johan Lam and Andrew Chen over a decade ago, 3sixteen's philosophy is evident in pieces they've developed since 2008: shirts, jackets, basics and accessories all take cues in form and function from their jeans. Fabrics and trims are always chosen for their capacity to develop character with time. 3sixteen aim is that, with diligent wear, the customers are rewarded with something well-aged, never "old."
