Founded in LA by Johan Lam and Andrew Chen over a decade ago, 3sixteen's modern history starts in 2008 with their very first pair of jeans, the SL-100x. The brand worked directly with Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan to develop a custom denim designed to withstand hard wear and show incredible character along the way.
Everything about the jean, from the cut to the buttons, rivets, leather patch, and stitch colour, was selected to demonstrate a level of lasting quality and versatility. 3sixteen's production has often seen them focus on a domestic story such as Japanese-produced fabrics combining with American craftsmanship.
They've since added several fits in more than 10 different fabrics, but their approach has not changed: every jean produced by 3sixteen is designed to become a permanent fixture in their lineup.
This guiding philosophy is evident in pieces they've developed since then: shirts, jackets, basics and accessories all take cues in form and function from their jeans. Even basics such as their t-shirts are a wardrobe essential for anyone. Fabrics and trims are always chosen for their capacity to develop character with time. 3sixteen aim is that, with diligent wear, the customers are rewarded with something well-aged, never "old."
