3sixteen has teamed up with Gloverall, the iconic British postwar duffle coat supplier, to create one of the most beautiful classic outerwear pieces we have ever seen. It is a coat that's both generous and warm, a perfect tonic to the harsh wind, cold rain and lethargy of winter. If the coat's personality emanates style and heat akin to a crackling fire, it's only thanks to its warm long length woollen construction, rain protecting hood, the amazing black and navy colour combination and idiosyncratic black wooden toggles that tie the piece together.
Both brands chose the iconic "Monty" style for the collab, which has been Gloverall's signature look since 1951. The Monty duffle coat was named after the iconic wartime commander Field Marshal Montgomery and has established itself as a classic British design.
It features a superb heavyweight Italian wool fabric, large square pockets, buffalo horn toggles, a hood, and cosy satin-lined sleeves. The oversized fit allows you to layer up underneath, ensuring you stay cosy from hood to hem. Hood snaps, throat latches and wrist straps have been removed from the original Gloverall version to obtain a minimalist look. In addition, the iconic fixed shoulder cape has been redesigned to a diamond pattern for a better look.
*Please note that this coat has been designed to be oversized. We recommend sticking with your standard american size, but if you prefer less of an oversized fit you may want to size down.
Founded in LA by Johan Lam and Andrew Chen over a decade ago, 3sixteen's philosophy is evident in pieces they've developed since 2008: shirts, jackets, basics and accessories all take cues in form and function from their jeans. Fabrics and trims are always chosen for their capacity to develop character with time. 3sixteen aim is that, with diligent wear, the customers are rewarded with something well-aged, never "old."
